This activity is a fun way for kids to collect data that they can then graph. It also develops and tests kids' prediction skills, and helps them understand relationships between parts and a whole.

What this activity will develop:
Math, thinking and art skills

What you'll need:
• Large-square graph paper
• Crayons
• Small packages of candy pieces
• Scissors
• Tape
• Poster board

What to do:
1. Fill in the squares in the bottom row of the graph paper with a color for each color of candy.

2. Open one package, and place each candy piece in a square in the column that matches the candy's color.

3. When all of the candy pieces are on the graph paper, record the number of each color at the top of the column.

4. Make a graph for each package.

Use:
1. Compare the graphs. What color is most likely to be found in a package of candy pieces? How many more brown pieces where there than green ones? What percentage of the candy pieces are yellow? What percentage are orange?
