When I was a kid, almost every night before bed, my dad would read me and my six siblings stories. Our favorite was a collection of Dr. Seuss stories, "The Sneetches and Other Stories". My dad would do a different voice for each character in each story...and seven little kids would sit gathered around him, their eyes rapt with attention. Nobody moved during these story sessions. The very cool thing, though, was when my dad had to go out of town on business, he still read us stories before bed. Before he left, he taped himself reading the stories, using all the appropriate voices. That way, even when he was gone, we still got our bedtime story. And even though it was much more cool to have Dad there, still, not a single one of us wouldn't be crowded around the stereo listening to Dad read. It is a very special memory for myself and my brothers and sisters.
