Whether it was classic rock 'n' roll, a boy band or a jazz show, most of us can vividly recall the excitement of our first concert. Here are some ideas to create a first-concert experience your kid will never forget!

Build anticipation by listening to the performer's music before the show. Make a mix CD or playlist of the artist's songs and listen to it with your child in the car or at home. "It is much more enjoyable for you and the kids if you all are familiar with the music beforehand," says Kimberly Petro, a Virginia mom who took her two daughters to their first concert last August. "We listened to the Jonas Brothers the entire month leading up to the concert, so we were able to sing along with all of the songs that night."
