Trick-or-Treating Safety
  • Younger children shouldn't go trick-or-treating alone; an adult, teenager or babysitter should accompany them. If you have older kids, make sure you know where they will be trick-or-treating and the route they plan to take.

  • Tell your kids to stay in well-lit, familiar neighborhoods, and advise against taking shortcuts through backyards, alleys or parks.

  • If your kids go out alone, tell them to only approach houses with lights on and to not accept rides from strangers.

  • Give them a designated time to be home, and consider giving tweens or teens a cell phone so that they are able to reach you in case of an emergency.
