Konami’s "Dance Dance Revolution" (DDR) took the world by storm and got kids off the couch. The player uses their feet to hit an unrelenting flood of arrows, each corresponding to a square on a dance pad. DDR now includes a “workout” mode. Now the game can improve cardiac health, improve muscle tone and help kids lose weight. Think of it as competitive aerobics. Recently, Nintendo struck workout gold with the innovative Wii Fit, but that was just the beginning. There’s a flood of exercise games on the market now. The portable Nintendo DS now offers a yoga game, workout games to lose weight and even recipes and calorie counters.
