Pregnancy & Parenting's
Homebirth Message Board

"There are many women who hope for childbirth in which they, not the doctors, are in control. They want to have the information that will enable them to make their own decisions, to prepare themselves for an experience in which they participate fully, and do not wish labour and birth to be taken over by managers." ~ Sheila Kitzinger

Homebirth can be a safe alternative to hospital birth, but be cautious about expectations that labor at home will be less painful because it is your own environment: While home birth under the right circumstances (healthy, low-risk moms and babies) is quite safe, it takes a lot of preparation, both in educating yourself about what is going to happen and in gathering all the necessary supplies. The Homebirth message board is a place where you can meet other women who are discussing this childbirth option.

If you've never participated in message board before, you'll be surprised by how easy it is to get answers to your questions from experienced moms. You don't need to be an iVillage member to read messages, but if you want to post, just click on the "join now" link at the very top right hand corner of the message board page. Membership is free and it just takes a few minutes to sign up.
