I am three weeks pregnant and suffering from breast tenderness, cramping and a lack of energy. I have endometriosis and recently had a miscarriage. My blood test showed a 375IU level of hCG. What can I do to help prevent another miscarriage and what can cause the cramping? I am quite panicked.
It has always made sense to me that women would have cramping during early pregnancy. The hormone changes, the physical and biochemical changes within the uterus and the increased motility of the whole reproductive tract all make this a very expected finding.
Endometriosis and the resulting scar tissue would also increase chances of cramping, but should not impact the pregnancy once it has a good hold -- which it should by five weeks past your last period. Your hCG levels are very normal for this gestational age and should increase about 65 percent every 48 hours.
There is really nothing you can do to prevent a miscarriage. Be sure to get your folic acid in and take it a bit easy for the next couple of weeks.
Everything sounds good. Keep up a positive outlook.
