Chances are there's a certain something your family did when you were a kid that is a cherished memory for you. Maybe it was the song your Dad sang you to sleep with, maybe it was a special family code word you shared. During the month of May, the parents of Parent Soup set out to think up great ways to make memories for their own kids. Making memories doesn't have to be difficult. In fact, it's often the little things that make the best memories, as you'll read in the suggestions below.
Date Night
"My dad used to take me on dates when I was a little girl. He would call me from work on a Friday afternoon and tell me to be ready by six. I got to pick out my own outfit and do my own hair. We always went to a local restaurant for lobster. This is one of my favorite memories from my childhood (even though when I was a teenager getting ready to date, I thought all dates should involve lobster!). Now that I am a mother, I do something similar with my son. My husband works nights sometimes, so about once a month, my son and I go out to dinner and to the movies. He is only four (I started taking him when he was two), and we have the best time."
