Is there any day more exciting to a child than his birthday? Well, possibly Christmas, but that's months away. In this age of elaborate parties at restaurants and theme parks, the parents of Parent Soup have put their heads together to think up memorable parties that can take place at home. These party ideas don't take a lot of money, just a little creativity. And they promise to be a lot of fun, because somewhere out there, a family has already thrown each one of these parties and worked out the kinks. So let the celebrations begin!
Batman Makes for a Dynamic Day
"I had a Batman party for my son when he turned 3. I got really inexpensive black fabric and cording and made Batman capes for all the kids invited to wear at the party and then take home. They were a big hit. For a pin-the-tail game, we used a Batman poster and little pictures of cupcakes on poster board backed with mounting tape to play 'Feed the cupcake to Batman.' For the cake, I made cupcakes and put a Batman ring that I had found at a party supply store in the middle of each one. Then I put them all close together on a platter. It looked really cool, almost like one big cake, but a lot less messy!"
